Specialization: Meal management and Nutrition

This specialization prepares the student in scientific aspects of food preparation, meal planning for normal and therapeutic needs, conditions like pregnancy, lactation, old age. Different types of weaning foods, finger foods, packed lunches are prepared .The student is encouraged to develop new innovative food products and also update their knowledge in nutrition via seminar presentations and workshops. They are encouraged with entrepreneurship skills via innovative self-made product preparation and sale of these products via food fairs on the college campus.

The Meal Management Department of Aqsa Women’s Degree College, under the guidance of I/C Principal ,Ms Oneza Farid, organized a State level Seminar on “Holistic Nutrition for Body and Soul”. It was organized on 13th September 2017 at 9.30 am.

 The registrations started at 9.00 am on the spot for outsiders and college students were registered   a day before. The Seminar commenced with a prayer followed by the felicitation of the guest speakers and welcome address by the Principal.

The first session was conducted by Dr Ramz Hawai at 10.30 am. The topic covered was “Healthy Food for Body, Mind and Soul.” This session ended at 12.00 p.m.

 The second session started at 12.15 p.m. It was conducted by Ms Don Sana Irfan (Dietitian and Asst Professor in Aqsa women’s degree college.)This session covered the Topic “Food Consumption and its relation to Obesity”. It concluded at 2. 15 p.m.

At 2.15 p.m. there was a lunch break for the guests as well as participants.

The last session started at 2.45 p.m by Dr Najia Momin (a practicing homeopath and Dietitian). She conducted a lecture on “Protein, Energy and Malnutrition.”

There was an interactive session after each lecture where the doubts of the participants were cleared.

The seminar ended by a small valedictory function in which the participants were provided with certificates.

The Seminar was thoroughly enjoyed by the students as the topic was related to health, food, maintaining normal weight and thus living a healthy lifestyle. The feedback received was outstanding and encouraging for all of us.
