Botany I – Algae, Fungi, Lichens, Bacteria, and Viruses

Paper – I (104101)

  1. It enables the students to identify different plants and their importance to human being.
  2. It makes the students to understand the structure and habitat of various plant species.
  3. It also makes them to understand their uses in Biotechnology.

Botany II – Morphology, Taxonomy and Anatomy

Paper – II (104102)

  1. It focuses on the identification of different flowers and their families.
  2. The contents enable the students to understand the basic structure of the flowering plants and their classification.
  3. It makes the students to understand the economic and biological importance of flowers to the human beings.

 Practicals

  1. It enables the students to understand the internal structure of different plant species.
  2. It also makes the students to identify the different flowers and classify them in different families and their inflorescence.

Semester – II

Botany I  Bryophyta, Pteridophyta, Gymnosperm and Ecology

 Paper – I (204101)

  1. The content focuses on ecological aspects and importance of their productivity to the environment and human beings.
  2. It also makes the students to understand the role of different plants in the environment and their position in the ecology.

Botany II  Physiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Cyto – Genetics

  Paper – II (204102)

  1. It enables the students to understand the difference in the sexes of different organisms on this earth.
  2. It also makes the students to understand the biological importance of DNA in the field of biotechnology and the importance of enzymes in the living organisms.
  3. It also focuses on the importance of water to the living world.

 Practicals

  1. It enables the students to understand the activity of an enzyme.
  2. It also makes the students to understand the human karyotypes and the importance of cell organelles in the plants.
