On 24th September 2019, the meal management department students of S.Y.B.A visited a Balwadi named “Ekatmik Balvikas Prakalp” . This field visit was arranged under the guidance of Don Sana Irfan (Assistant professor, meal management department).  This activity was conducted in collaboration with the N.S.S department of our college.

The students interviewed the teachers and other workers of the Balwadi and collected information about the syllabus, different activities conductedin it and the meals which are provided by the government agencies.  The students receive the regular cyclic menu of Poha, eggs, rice, lapsey, laddoos, khidchi and much more.One meal is provided daily and served by the teachers.

It was a new experience for the students  of Aqsa Women’s Degree College , who after doing the survey distributed the gift packets containing a school bag, pencil, sharpener, eraser,  scale, biscuits, colouring book and a toy.

This gift hamper was sponsored by the N.S.S department of our college.

The students enjoyed the activity and thus it was a grand success as the children with the happy faces left for home with the gifts.

Cake making workshop 2019-2020

Cake making workshop

The food and nutrition department under the guidance of assistant professor, Don Sana Irfan organized a cake making workshop of cake making.

30 students participated in it and it was organized in the food laboratory. The students were taught to prepare and decorate a Barbie-doll cake. After the session was over the cake was cut and tasted by the students.

The students attended the workshop with lots of enthusiasm and enjoyed it a lot.

 This activity was an income generating activity where students learn cake preparation for selling purpose and college collected marginal fees from the participants which was an income generating activity for the college. Thus all the people were benefited and the workshop was a grand success.

Chocolate making Workshop

Workshop -Chocolate making Workshop

The Meal Management Department of Aqsa Women’s Degree College organized a chocolate making workshop for the S.Y.B.A students .In this workshop Don Sana Irfan, Assistant Professor of Meal Management and Nutrition Department taught various varieties of chocolate to the students. The variety included dry fruit chocolates, candy filling chocolates, whipped cream filling chocolates, caramel filling chocolates, shaded variety, white chocolates , chocolate lollipops and many more. The session also included packaging and wrapping for gifting it.

 This particular activity acts as an income generating activity for the students who have a subject of Food entrepreneurship and thus learn business and entrepreneurship skills.  

The workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by students and faculty where they prepared various chocolates and then ate it enjoying to the best.

Event-Food Fair in the College campus.

The Food and Nutrition Department ( Arts Faculty) of Aqsa Women’s Degree College organized a food fair in the College Campus on  10thFebruary 2020.The T.Y.B.A students prepared innovative recipes and sold their food products in the college campus at marginal rates.

The students served recipes like papdi chats, chocolate coconut lollipops, mix veg and cold chicken sandwiches, oreo chocolate balls, veg pizza dhokla  , and egg rolls.They served innovative and delicious snacks low in rates. This particular activity enhanced their entrepreneurship skills which they learn in the theory of Food Entrepreneurship.

This activity served as an income generating action and was a learning experience for the T.Y.B.A. students.It was a profitable activity. The profit that they earned was taken by students while they paid for tables on rent. This rent was taken by the college. Thus this activity served as a income generating activity for students as well as college.

The Food Festival was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students in the College.

Preparation of innovative self- made food products.

The students of meal management in their course of three years learn to prepare different nutritious and healthy products in their nutrition practical. In their final year, under the guidance of assistant professor ,Don Sana Irfan , they prepare new innovative products and learn packaging and try to sell it. Form June 2019 to march 2020 in their different practical sessions they learn preparation of new innovative products prepared by them. This particular activity serves as an income generating activity which further helps them in their future once they are out of the college campus.

           Products like homemade innovative snacks, deserts, homemade  chocolatesand macaroons, healthy homemade cookies, cakes, different types of healthy snacks and chivda, kebabs are prepared by them.

In the packaging practical they learn different types of food packaging which is useful for their upcoming Food fair in which they sell their innovative products on a large scale in the College Campus.

The T.Y.B.A students of arts faculty, under the assistance of assistant professor, Don Sana Irfan, organized a marketing activity of the innovative products prepared by them on 4th February 2020. In this activity, they visited different classes of the college and neighboring school and invited the students for the upcoming food fair in the college campus. They even considered the views and preferences of the students by the in-depth interviews with them about their choices, their demands and price.

 This activity helps them to know about the recent trends of the market and the requirements of the customers. Thus they learn about the market feasibility study, learned in the food entrepreneurship theory.

They prepared charts, posters and menu cards of their food products and discuss about the price range and students preferences on one to one level. Thus this activity enhances their social skill which is very important for income generating activity in near future.

The S.Y.B.A students of Meal management and Nutrition department participated in a seminar on “Medicinal uses of spices and herbs” .In this seminar  the 17 students participated and presented one spice ,  herb or condiment and explained in details with the help of various examples about that particular spice .This seminar was conducted under the guidance of Don Sana Irfan, assistant Professor   of meal management and Nutrition department.

This seminar helped them to gain knowledge about the vast variety of spices available in India and abroad and its various functions to control diseases and infections. Such types of seminars helps the students to develop confidence to speak in public, which enhances personality development. The seminar ended with lots of enthusiasm and interest.

This information helps them further to produce their own innovative product and sell it in the college campus. They learn about the latest food trends of the market which helps them to learn about the food entrepreneurship in practical.

The Meal Management Department of Aqsa Women’s Degree College organized an ice cream making workshop for the S.Y.B.A students .In this workshop Don Sana Irfan, Assistant Professor of Meal Management and Nutrition Department taught various varieties of ice-creams to the students. The variety included pineapple and strawberry flavored ice-cream. This activity was under the subject of food commodities -2 where different milk and milk products are taught in the theory. The session also included packaging and freezing and distributing to the students and faculty for free. This activity acts as an income generating activity for the students entrepreneurship skills and prepare different food products in the food laboratory.   

The workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by students and faculty where they learned to prepare and then ate it enjoying to the best.
