Aqsa Educational Society’s Aqsa Women’s Degree College’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with MAJLIS and LOKRAJ SANGATHAN took an initiative of organizing two days National Webinar on Muslim Women- Laws, Struggles and Reality on 1st and 2nd September, 2020. The basic objective of the webinar was to bring together academicians and experts from different parts of the country to exchange knowledge and ideas. The webinar was commenced with the introduction of resource persons by Ms Fareha Momin (Dept. of Chemistry). There were three sessions, the administrative session began with the talk by Adv. Flavia Agnes (Social Activist, co-founder of Majlis). She spoke on the topic “Rights of Muslim Women on Marriages. The session was delivered by the eminent speaker Adv. Nausheen Yousuf (Human Right Activist, Majlis). She highlighted on the topic “Divorce and Rights on Divorce in Muslim Women. The third session included the talk by Dr. Oneza Farid (I/C Principal of Aqsa Women Degree College) on the topic “Understanding Muslim Women’s Rights as per Islam: Myth and Reality. The session was followed by panel discussion, where participants freely expressed their comments, observations and gave fruitful suggestions for the future. Ms. Shaikh Ayesha Ejaz (Department of Zoology) proposed a vote of thanks and concluded to all those who helped in organizing the webinar. She in particular thanked the conveners, Moallim Shaima and Shifa Vinchu for their extra ordinary contribution.
On the second day, Ms. Don Sana (Department of Food and Nutrition) introduced and welcomed the eminent speakers.There were two sessions. The first session began with the talk by Dr. Ranu Jain (Professor at the Centre for studies in sociology of Education, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai). She spoke on “Position of Women in Contemporary Society. The second session was delivered by Dr. Subroto Das (Doctorate from IIT Mumbai in Chemistry). He emphasized on “Importance of Women in Minority Communities. The delegates provided in-depth analysis of subjects and updated the knowledge of the participants.
The webinar was followed by an interactive session, where the speakers cleared different queries of the participants. The webinar was concluded by vote of thanks by Ms. Sayyed Zainab Sadaf. Panelists lauded the untiring work done by the college. All in all it was a learning and a motivating experience.Thus the webinar ended with a grand success.
