A Poster Presentation Competition on the theme “Crime and Deviance was organized by Department of sociology of Aqsa Women’s Degree College on 18th July 2019.

The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Principal Ms.Oneza Farid.

Aqsa Women’s Degree College has always been on the forefront in providing quality education to students and it makes sincere efforts towards acquainting them with the latest Knowledge in the field of sociology. The event was an opportunity for the students to present their knowledge with their creative streak and express their views using the colors of imagination. The students gave an overwhelming response and created posters according to theme. Student presented posters on topics like what is crime and delinquency, different types of crime such as White collar crime, female crime, Cybercrime and also explained the topic of crime correction in detail. The artistic endeavor of the students was highly praised and encouraged by the Farid Oneza,Principal and HOD of Sociology Department and Vinchu Shifa Jhangir of Zoology Department.

The event was organized and conducted by the department of Sociology.

The Winners of the event were as follows:

Paper Presentation on Indian Rural society

A Paper presentation competition was held for the students of S.Y.B.A (Sociology). 38 students presented paper on various topic of topic Indian Rural society. Students collected information from various sources of secondary data and prepared the paper on the traditional and modern rural society. It also included the developmental projects which are taking place in Indian rural society, and the various movements initiated by the government of India for the progress and development of Indian rural society. It was a learning experience for the students.

Report on “Raising Day Saptha”

Event: Awareness programme

          Birth anniversary of Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule was celebrated on3rd January, 2020 at Aqsa Women’s Degree College with great enthusiasm.

A-team from Bhiwandi police Department organizes this event, under the banner of “Raising Day Saptha” by the Nizampur Police Station in collaboration with Aqsa Women’s degree college, IQAC team, WDC, and Sociology Department. Inspector Mr. Indelkar, Ms.Inspector Vaishali Gudvui and Honorable Principal Ms Oneza Farid, addressed with the students and encouraged them by the giving example of Savetri bai Phule, and their achievement in educational field. All the HODs, teaching staff, non-teaching staff & the students of college were present on this occasion.       

            

           All the speakers delivered a short speech narrating the outstanding work of Savitribai Phule, who was the first teacher of the Girls’ school started in Pune by Mahatma Phule. She faced many problems and obstacles in their way but she did her work with great devotion & determination.

       

         The motive behind organizing this type of events is that it is our duty to express our gratitude towards both Mahatma Phule & Savitribai Phule who laid the foundation stone of women’s education, against all odds. The function was ended with the National Anthem.

Department of Sociology and the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of Aqsa Women’s Degree College organized a guest lecture on “Measures to safeguard the rights of women at work place” on 28th December,2019 i.e. on Saturday in collaboration with N.S.S.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Zain Kuwari (L.L.B. L.L.M.).Jawre Aysha Saleem student of S.Y.B.sc gave an introduction about the speaker. This lecture was conducted for the third year students of Arts, Science and Commerce.

The purpose of the lecture was to make the students aware about all the laws and regulation made for them to protect themselves at any place. The speaker gave information about what kind of harassment can take place and the kind of cases can be registered and role of the police in this kind of cases.

After wards there was an interactive session, where the speaker invited questions and responded to them in a very awesome manner. The session was ended with vote of thanks. The lecture was really very fruitful for all the students.

                      Report on Celebration of Constitution Day

 India is governed in terms of the constitution of India, which was adopted by the constitution Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into force on 26th January, 1950. The Preamble of Indian Constitution records the aims and aspirations of the people of India and reflects the basic spirit of the Constitution. To spread the importance of the Indian Constitution, India observes November 26 as the Constitution Day of India. The day has also been declared as the Constitution Day to spread awareness about its architect Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

            This year being the 125th anniversary it was celebrated across the nation on high spirits. Aqsa Women’s Degree college of Bhiwandi, celebrated this day by organising an essay competition on the topic ‘Indian Constitution”, the students of the all three faculties Arts, Science And Commerce, participated in the competition and 3 best essays and two consolation were selected and prizes were given by the hands of Ms. Nachan Sana,who appreciated all the students, team of Sociology Department and N.S.S for the efforts taken by them.

After the programme NSS Volunteers and teachers Prof. Shaikh Ayesha (N.S.S In charge) Ansari Sabrin (N.S.S Member) Moallim Shaima (Sociology Department) took the pledge and read the preamble. The programme was ended by reading National Anthem.

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat
 was announced by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 9th February 2020 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Through this innovative measure, the knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states & UTs will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between the states, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India.

. The Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat programme, aims to actively enhance interaction between people of diverse cultures living in different States and UTs in India, with the objective of promoting greater mutual understanding amongst them. As per the programme, each year, every State/UT would be paired with another State/UT in India for reciprocal interaction between the people. It is envisaged through this exchange, that the knowledge of the language, culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between one another, thereby strengthening the unity and integrity of India.

The States and UTs are to embark on a mission to enhance their cultural, academic and economic ties by entering into a wide range of mutual engagements with the paired States/UTs covering the spheres of music, drama, cuisine, language, history, tourism and other forms of exchange between the people. An indicative list of activities has been drawn up and circulated to the State Governments / UT Administrations and to the key Central Ministries. The States/ UTs may choose, evolve and develop their interaction pattern based on the suggested list as per operational suitability in the course of their interactions.

All States and UTs will be covered under the programme. There will be pairing of States/UTs at national level and these pairings will be in effect for one year, or till the next round of pairings. The State/UT level pairings would be utilized for state level activities. District level pairings would be independent of the State level pairings. The activity will be very useful to link various States and Districts in annual programmes that will connect people through exchanges in areas of culture, tourism, language, education trade etc. and citizens will be able to experience the cultural diversity of a much larger number of States/UTs while realizing that India is one.

 

The Aqsa women’s degree college is also celebrate the first phase of „Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat‟ from 9th February 2020. As per the directives/ guidelines of MHRD, has been paired Maharashtra with Odisha. An activity was organized by sociology department in collaboration with N.S.S. A power point presentation was present by Moallim Shaima from Sociology Department.

                          The presentation consists about the history, culture, geography, cuisine and religion of Odisha. After the brief introduction and aim and objective behind the mission, student came to know about the Odisha state.

   The programme was attended by the Arts faculty.

                                     Field trip Report

Field trips can be educationally and socially engaging additions to Girls Only. Field trips must be planned ahead of time, with attention to budget, transportation needs, and other logistics. Additional permission slips may be necessary for field trips. The objective of all field trips is to expose participants to various parts of their community, facilitate connections between participants and others, and helps participants understand themselves as members of their local community.

To give hand on experience of rural community, 33 students from Aqsa Women’s degree college visited Ranjnoli village near Bhiwandi-kalyan by pass, along with Prof. Moallim Shaima on 18 September 2019, at 11:00 A.M.

              The motive behind the visit is to make familiar students with rural life and rural development and also show the differences between rural and urban area. The activity was based on syllabus.

                    The village visit was the interface between the college life and the people of village. All those who attended experienced the moment and life of rural area. Students were given an opportunity to have dialogue with rural people. Students asked different question related to development of village. They asked their query for how such a village development was done.

              The experience of this tour was really fantastic and unforgettable. They got a clear idea as to which amenities and infrastructures are requiring for betterment of life at rural area. Students were also made aware about different scheme by government for rural development.

Free Medical Camp: – 17th July, 2019,

Type of Activity:Community Service Programme.

Sociology and NSS Unit of Aqsa Women’s Degree College conducted a free medical check-up camp in college for the students and their parents on 17th July, 2019. Free medical camp was conducted in collaboration with Nidan Diagnostics Center, Bhiwandi.  All the Staff, students and their parents of various schools, colleges run by Aqsa education society was provided free health check-up during the camp. Residents of nearby slum area were also informed about the camp. All kinds of free tests like the BMI, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Blood pressure, ECG, and complete body analysis was done free of cost. Many patients turned-up for the tests which were carried out from around 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Overall there were 70 entries and it was a successful attempt made by the Sociology department and N.S.S team of Aqsa women’s Degree College.
