The Guest Lecture Program

 The IQAC and Zoology Department of Aqsa Women’s Degree College organized a Guest Lecture Program on 10th  September, 2018 in college campus. The guest speaker was Dr. Pramod  Shindhe (Head and  Associate Professor department of zoology, B.N.N. College Bhiwandi).The topic of his lecture was “Maintenance of an aquarium “.In his lecture, he emphasized on Food . He also had an interactive session after the lecture, where he cleared different queries of students and faculty as well. The Guest Lecture Programme was conducted under the assistance of Ms. Vinchu Shifa Jhangir and Ms. Shaikh Ayesha Ejaz.

Along with Seminar Zoology department took an initiative of organizing an Poster presentation on Endangered and Exotics species to inculcate research habits among the undergraduates’ students.

The topics were distributed amongst students. Students of zoology actively participated in this presentation. Students explained topics very nicely and effectively. Judge Mr. Pramode Shinde, Principal, Lecturers appreciated the hard work and efforts of the students of T.Y.B.Sc (Zoology).

Winners of the competition were

Ansari Sidra Fatima Mohd. Irfan got first prize. Sayyed Habiba Nabi recived second prize. Rais Shumaila Asim bagged third prize.

           The students were awarded with the participation certificate by Dr. Pramode Shinde from B.N.N College, Bhiwandi.

Work shop on Collection , Sorting and mounting of Zooplankton on 7th February 2019

 

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell  and Zoology Department of Aqsa Women’s Degree College Jointly organized a Guest Lecture Program 7th February 2019 in college campus. The guest speaker was Dr.  Dilip Kakvipure and Dr. Pramod Shindhe (Head and Associate Professor Department of zoology, B.N.N. College, Bhiwandi). The topic of this workshop was ” Collection , Sorting and mounting of Zooplankton”.

Field visit:

Aqsa women’s Degree college had undertaken the project for awareness regarding Mangrooves, at Vikroli. The project was assigned in collaboration with Godrej, Mumbai. and under the guidance of Hemant Kerkare

Students of Zoology were taken for the visit on 21st August2019  by the Department of Zoology. Mr. Prabhu More was invited to deliver lecture on plastic awareness.

Moreover mangroves of different varieties were studied, as well as collection and identification of Mangrooves was shown by Hemant Kerkare.

 Around 50 students participated. The visit to Godrej Mangrooves, Vikroli was a learning experience for all the students and with the objective to protect Mangrooves had undertaken a responsibility to save environment.

Workshop on sorting and mounting of Zooplankton

Zoology Department of Aqsa College organized a workshop on techniques of sorting and mounting of Zooplanktons. Dr. Dilip Kakvipure, Associate Professor, B.N.N college, Bhiwandi was invited as the Resource person to conduct the workshop.

35 Students of T.Y.BSc attended the workshop. Water was collected from Kamwadi River to perform the study of zooplanktons. Dr. Dilip explained and showed the methods to sort out the collected zooplanktons and further they were mounted on the cavity slides to observe the live forms.

Equipments used for the collections of zooplanktons like plankton nets of different sizes, Sacchi disc, etc were shown to the students.

Various Arthropods, larva of Arthropods, aquatic insects, Nematodes were observed. List of organisms found was prepared by the students.

 

 

Aqsa women’s degree college conducted an educational trip to Tarapurwala Aquarium, Mumbai on 15th October 2017 for students of zoology department. The main purpose of the trip was to get information about fishes. The aquarium is India’s oldest aquarium and one of the city’s main attraction the aquarium is located on marine line in Mumbai.

The students were fascinated to see the different kinds of colorful fresh water fishes and tropical fishes of different shapes and size on display there and very eagerly began writing down the name and information present on each fish tank.The aquarium is maintained by department of fisheries.

EXCURSION REPORT

Ovalekerwadi (butterfly Garden)

 

               The Aqsa Women’s Degree College Excursion Committee conducted an excursion trip for the students of zoology department; on 15th October 2017.It was an amazing picnic spot. The students enjoyed spending time and running behind butterflies. The owner MrRajendra is very knowledgeable and spend time to tell about butterflies and there behavior .There are 150 butterfly species  in Mumbai out of which 120 species might spot in the garden.

 

 The journey started at 9:00 a.m. the cool breeze on the way was refreshing. All the students studied butterfly diversity and enjoyed in the laps of nature.

EXCURSION REPORT

Wet N Joy

 

               The Aqsa Women’s Degree College Excursion Committee conducted an excursion trip for the students of Science, Commerce and Arts Faculty.

              Two Trips are organized annually. First Excursion was to a Wet n Joy Water Park at Lonavala on 16th September 2017.It was an amazing picnic spot. The students enjoyed various slides of the water park.

 The journey started at 9:00 a.m. the cool breeze on the way was refreshing. All the students studied plant biodiversity and enjoyed in the laps of nature.

       SEMINAR ON NASHA MUKTI – 08th February.

The NSS Unit of Aqsa Women’s Degree College on 8th February, 2018 conducted an awareness campaign on Vyasan mukt abhiyan in cooperation with Bhiwandi Police. With an aim to stop drug addiction, this awareness campaign was organized. Volunteers were addressed by Dr. Bharti Ghevalkar, from Bhramakumari Ishwari Vishwa Vidhyalay, Medical wing. Dr. Bharti explained the volunteers about the consequences of drug addiction. Volunteers were made to take oath on fighting against drug addiction and making our environment Nasha mukt.

WOMEN’S DAY

On account of Women’s day- 8th March, Aqsa women’s degree college organized a seminar on Breast cancer with an intention to spread awareness among female. Dr. Aaliya Sahil Rais, Radiologist from Rais diagnostic was invited as the resource person. Dr. Aaliya gave an excellent presentation on symptoms, treatment and preventive measures on Breast cancer. She also explained on importance of breast feeding, which is lacking in present generation mothers.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON 18TH DECEMBER, 2017.

NSS unit of AQSA WOMEN’S DEGREE COLLEGE in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance cell and Thane obstetrics and Gynecological Society’s Adolescent Health committee under the Aegis of FOGSI Adolescent Health committee organized one day National Level seminar on Adolescent Health and Nutrition.

The speakers were Dr. Sampath Kumari, Chairperson FOGSI and Dr. Supriya Arwari, Chairperson TOGS gave guidance to our volunteers on maintaining proper health and hygiene, which is a priority during Adolescent period. 100 volunteers attended the seminar and it was a very informative session which will be helpful for them in future.

 

 

One Day Multidisciplinary INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR

  Contemporary Social and Environmental Issues  and Anthropogenic activities and impact on Climate Change     

(A Brief Report)

              A one-dayMulti-Disciplinary International Seminar on Contemporary Social and Environmental Issues and Anthropogenic activities and impact on Climate Change     

was organized by AqsaWomens’s Degree College, Bhiwandi Affiliated toS. N. D .T University  Mumbai on 18th January 2018. It was organized jointly with the IQAC,  Sociology and Zoology department. A large number of scholars participated in the deliberations, including leading experts from Australia, apart from many eminent scholars from India. The venue of the conference was campus of AqsaDegree College in AL Noor school auditorium. At the outset, Principal Oneza Farid, (I/c Principal, chairperson and Seminar Convener) Welcomed the Delegates, followed by the opening remarks by Chairman of the Aqsa college Mr. Shakeel Farid. He gave a brief account of the Seminar and related organizational efforts over the seminar. He mentioned that the inputs from principal and seminar co-coordinators provided the platform for this Seminar. He congratulated the Aqsa Women’s Degree College for organizing this International seminar. This was followed by the remarks highlighting the importance of the Seminar by Dr.RamzHawai (Treasurer, Aqsa Educational Society). The inaugural session ended with a vote of thanks.

There were in all six lively sessions including the concurrent ones. The academic sessions began with the talk by Professor Nisar Shaikh, Principal of DRT’S A.E Kalsekar Degree college, Kausa, mumbra dist., Thane. He explained on the topic “Anthropogenic activities and Impact on climatic Change”. Ambassador from Australia, Sydney Zarnaz Sayyed who is working for “Child Protection caseworker for Wiseley Mission and NSW government funded programme called Brighter Future,” Sydney (Australia), delivered her lecture on “Domestic Violence” The following talks was continued by second eminent Ambassador Mr. Shazly Sayyed,Australia.

 The Panel Discussion Session Other highlights of the Seminar included the talk of Dr.Sujata Ghokle, Head Associate professor of Department of Sociology, S. N. D .T University Mumbai, and Dr. SangeetaBapat Associate Professor and Head In- charge Department of Music, at S. N. D. T university Church gate, Mumbai, both eminent scholars speaks on contemporary social problems of India, they also speaks on the importance of research work and also suggested topics for research paper.  Dr. Zainab Khotal was the last speaker of the session delivered her talk on “TheRole of Occupational Therapy in Developmental Disabilities”.

 The delegates enjoyed lunch. After lunch second session was continue with paper presentation. Presentation was given by academician and students of various faculty on various topics.

 

The Valedictory function was chaired by Mr. Ansari Irfan, Principal of Samadiya College Bhiwandi. Participants freely expressed their comments and observations and gave fruitful suggestions for the future.

Foreign and Indian delegates lauded the untiring work done by college. The convener Oneza  Farid utilized this opportunity to present a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all those who helped in organizing this Seminar. She appreciated the support provided by the teaching and non-teaching staff. She in particular thanked her colleagues Ms. Moallim Shaima and Ms.Vinchu Shifa for their extra ordinary contribution .The Conference was well attended, and was a great success.

            SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION

                     On occasion of science day celebration i.e. on 28th  feb  2017, the students of T.Y.B.Sc Zoology organized a power point presentation and poster presentation on Following topics:

 

Crafts and Gears

Maine fisheries

Environmental Science

Entomology.

The topics were distributed amongst the three groups. The topics were explained nicely and effectively. It was very knowledgeable. All the students and the faculty members attended the presentation and appreciate the students of T.Y.B.Sc  (Zoology)

GUEST LECTURE PROGRAMME

                      The department of Zoology organised a guest lecture programme  on 21st September 2017on basics of Foreignsics science by Ms. Shaikh Sayyeda from Al.noor Jr. Colllege, BHIWANDI.

                             The lecture initiated by recitation of Qura’an  followed by introduction and felicitation. After that Ms. Sayyeda Shaikh continued on lecture on foreignsic science at about 9:45 am . All the science students attended and benefited from it. lecture and ended with national anthem.
